I am enjoy doing all things creative; I write novels, short stories, poems, I paint pictures and play the guitar. My aspiration is to be able to pursue all of these ventures on a professional and academic level.
Hopefully with these varied projects I would like to add something of value and importance to the world and to culture. Inspiring a higher level of awareness in people, enriching their lives with the art I make but also getting them to question the universe, life and existence. Lifting the collective consciousness.

This opportunity would have profound impacts on my self esteem and the belief within myself, motivating me to work harder and produce even better, more encapsulating writing. It would have a major effect on more than just my creative ventures, it would massively benefit me personally as well. Helping me to unlock my potential and become the best possible writer that I can be. Winning this would validate that everything I have been doing was worth it and that it is possible to realise your dreams of doing what you love. I feel like this is my purpose in life, to create great literature that enriches people’s lives, making them think and feel and question the things around them. Winning this prize would bring me one step closer to doing this.

With the recent turmoil and uncertainty in the world, art, including literature is one of the things that humanity needs to come out of this chaos, which we need to do together. I believe this opportunity could help me do that in a powerful way, by creating useful things to the world I want to help humanity in any way I can and brings us all together with art. This could help start that career for me, going on to produce many more works is another objective of mine, it would allow me to help a lot more people than just myself, which I think is the duty of an artist.

The Pendulum

Due to global turmoil a sovereign nation is created on the Australian continent. The philosophical narrative details several characters, unhappy with the dangerous milieu in which they live. They become involved in a coup to overthrow the government. The plan is discovered and they are subjected to a show trial, resulting in devastating consequences for the characters and the nation.

Synopsis

Late in the twentieth and early twenty-first century a sovereign nation is formed, occupying roughly half of the Australian continent. It's founders have idealistic dreams of promoting a paradise of individual freedom and opportunity though it quickly becomes a dangerous place filled with crime and injustice.
The main character and focus of the story is a woman named Alexandrine Chevalier, (a.k.a. Ally Rose) a French immigrant, unhappy with the dangerous milieu in which she lives and works as a 'Facilitator.' A colloquial name given to criminals who organise illegal operations for their clientele. Together with Portia D'Amico, a corrupt Detective, Ally is reluctantly thrust into a far-reaching conspiracy involving cover-ups, murder and extortion as they struggle to comprehend their wider role in life and the conspiracy.

They encounter Osiris Jackson, another 'Facilitator' and associate by chance, as his role in the conspiracy is revealed they realise it is much more sinister than they anticipated. Unhappy with the increasingly unjust, tyrannical country, Osiris convinces Ally to become involved in a plan to overthrow the government in a coup. They are subsequently discovered and arrested by Government Agencies. They are subjected to a show trial, during the trial the extent of the corruption within the country is exposed.

Ally and Osiris are convicted and imprisoned. Regardless the revelations of the Government's crimes cause enough of an uproar within the country to inspire radical change. As a result they are granted a pardon from their imprisonment but with no reason to stay, they decide to leave together to the Seychelles, an archipelago off the East Coast of Africa, with hopes of continuing their plan to inspire change within the world.

The animals in the book rebel against the human counterparts which is similar to the rebellious theme of my book.
