Why I wrote this book

I founded Esteem NOW in 2014. Esteem NOW – Encouraging Sustained Transformation, Empowerment, and Excellence while Making a Difference Now is a platform to provide workshops and lectures to provide young girls middle school through high school with the tools to build a healthy self-esteem.

Since working in the public school system I found that many of the young ladies struggled with low self-esteem which they masked by acting out and participating in negative behavior. While working in the school system I worked with many young women devoting my efforts to provide them with the tools to provide self-awareness and self-empowerment. This was both a humbling and exhilarating experience.

Having struggled with low self–esteem as a teenager and young woman, I was forced to face my struggling when my marriage of twenty-five years ended. The Rebirth of Me: Embracing the journey is a revealing look back on the challenges that I faced and the lessons learned from a particularly poignant life-changing event that forced me to dig deep within. Discovering places that I never knew existed, I reveal how I was able to release the strong holds that I carried throughout my lifetime.

I believe this book will help others who are facing the same or similar life-changing events by providing the tools necessary to overcome challenges and unlock their inner strength. This book will help strengthen those in the midst of a storm and teach them how to free themselves from strongholds that have been holding them back from achieving goals and fulfilling their purpose.

I am very confident that this book will reach its target market, but by using Publishizer as a pre-launch platform, I hope to gather support and awareness to a project that is very important to me.

How I'm Planning To Publish

I am self-publishing and the book is on target to be published within the next couple of months. The book will be available in soft cover as well as a version for e-Readers.

The book is approximately 24,000 words. The manuscript, editing and cover design are completed and is now in final review.

The fundraising is for marketing and promoting the book. After the book has been published, I plan to launch it with a special event in the Washington Metropolitan area. Afterwards, I intend to participate in book signing events to promote the book.

What Is In The Book

The book is an account of my two-year journey to learning how to release string holds and embrace my journey. The book consists of five sections which cover the two year period to rediscovering me. Below is a brief summary:

1. Introduction about the background of the book: why it was written and my desire to assist others with overcoming life changing events.

2. Going the Distance: How I became the transition necessary to change from who I was to who I was to become.

3. Starting the Journey: My acknowledgement of the need to embrace the renewal, set goals and proceed one day at a time.

4. Day by Day with James Allen: shares the book by Vic Johnson which was the tool I used to start on this journey. Journaling how I processed the first thirty-three days of my journey.

5. Moving Out – Therapy – Discovering the New Me: Exposes the challenges of starting over, seeking help, facing my demons, pressing on, and learning myself all over again.

6. Embracing the Journey: provides the tools I used to move past my past, take my control back, developing a new mindset, forgiving myself and others,
moving on, and embracing my next steps.

7. The book, beginning at with the Day by Day with James Allen, provides a section at the end of each segment for the reader to record their thoughts and what impact the book is having on their life and situation.

Who This Book Is Written For

This book was written for anyone challenged with trying to overcome a life changing event. While on the surface I was dealing with the end of a twenty-five year marriage, the true issues were far beneath the surface. This book embodies the tools I used to make it through to my rebirth. The book is full of insight from my authors who motivated me through my transition.

Misinterpretations

When you are in a defensive space you limit your ability to see clearly and to receive
messages. You tend to misinterpret a lot of information. When you are in a
defensive place everything is about you…whether you intend to or not you cannot
see past the impact that everything has on you. If you are stuck in traffic and running late for work you see the traffic as the obstacle..not the fact that perhaps you should have left a
little earlier to avoid it. When you have more month at the end of the money you focus on the fact that you don't have enough money to do the things that you need or want to do …not that you need to budget and determine what you're doing that can be done differently to
get where you want to go. In other words you are seeing the glass as half empty (negative) instead of half full (positive).

We choose how we interpret information. No one has the power to make you feel a particular way. We have no control over how others behave or speak….we do have control over how we react or respond. Far too often we give others way more power than they deserve and by doing that we fail ourselves. We fail ourselves because we make the other person the problem which prevents us from focusing on what we can do differently in the situation to achieve different results. Again I quote the famous quote by Albert Einstein, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result”. We often behave as if we are insane.
