What is the Book About?

The story is set in an alternative world to our own where the world's history is almost identical, say for the fact that mythological and fantastical creatures, powers and concepts exist. This world is neither a utopia nor a dystopia, as it is meant to represent the modern world, but it is
filled with awesome power and wonderful beings. Other than a Vampire nation being located in Southern France, the world has not been changed too dramatically. The Guardians is the UN's private army which is sent to deal with the most dangerous of threats to the world and it consists of both regular humans and super humans. Although there are many groups who oppose the Guardians, as they are in the way of their goals, the most significant one in recent memory is the Phantom Organisation. The Guardians are led by Kasmine Aysen, an Ancient Vampire and she is considered to be one of the most powerful people in the world; Phantom is led by Michael Angelson, a human with the power of the Arch Angel Michael who is also considered to be one of the strongest in the world.

The story follows Eric Agrim, a fifteen year old boy in England who enjoys living his life in peace and quiet. However, it is revealed that he has the power of Satan dwelling inside of him and thus must transfer to Ferris Academy, the training school for the Guardians located in the city of
Imperial in England. Along the way, he will have to deal with supernatural serial killers, the school's tournament, his complicated love life, and, of course, with Phantom as they begin to make their moves in the shadows.

How I Found the Inspiration for the Book

I have always been a fan of what you would call 'Cool Concepts'. I love all manner of genres
of fiction, such as Fantasy and Sci-fi, and I have always wanted to see a world in which all of these awesome concepts could exist. Most fictional universes only ever focus on one or a handful of these concepts, such as the Harry Potter franchise which solely focuses on magicians. I know how to not only respect these concepts and the lore associated with them, but I also know the way in which they will be able to interact with one another and how to make them as cool and wonderful to behold as they should be.

Why am I the Best Person to Write this Book?

I am the best person to write this book because I not only understand each of these concepts in an in-depth way, but I also love every single one of them to the point that I would be ashamed if they were misrepresented or made 'uncool'. Vampires, mechs, dragons, Gods, demons, myth
and legend; these are just a few of the awesome concepts brought to life in the Guardians and they are only a handful of the concepts in fiction that I adore. I know that I will do all of these concepts justice and tell an entertaining, emotional and engaging story with them as well. I understand how to balance all of them together and how they can interact with one another. Personally, I do not think that anyone else can or ever will tell a story like this.

What is the Book's Structure?

The book, before editing is completed, consists of about 160,000 words across 300 A-4 pages. It is divided up into forty chapters and is further divided into three main sections of the story which are: 'Welcome to Ferris', 'The School Tournament', and 'The Phantom War'. The reason that I have done this is because I feel as if the book needed to be broken down into these more general sections to make it seem more reader friendly and to make the narrative structure of the book more noticeable. The first section, 'Welcome to Ferris', introduces the reader to the world, the main and secondary characters and it sets up the rest of the book, thus easing the reader into the story. The second section, 'The School Tournament', is all about characterization and
allowing the reader to connect to the main cast more as they learn more about them, while throwing in some fun and epic action scenes as well. The third and final section, 'The Phantom War', is what the rest of the book has built up to and it is the battle between the Guardians and the Phantom organisation.

There are nine main characters that are all on a team with Eric when he joins Ferris.

First and foremost is the main character, Eric Agrim; a fifteen year old boy who used to live a peaceful and quiet life until he discovered that he had the power of Satan lying dormant inside of him.

Then, there are his two childhood, and best, friends, Azrael Pranith and Kaida Aidan. Azrael is a boy who enjoys teasing Eric and is always there for him and the others in the team; he has the power of a demon inside of him. Kaida Aidan is a fifteen year old girl that is not only beautiful, but kind and caring as well. She has had a crush on Eric since they were younger and she has two souls within her, one of which belongs to a fire dragon.

Next up is the third and final boy of Eric's team, Ajax Amory. He is arrogant, a little too interested in girls, but he is strong and always puts others before himself; he has a mech suit modeled after a Greek Hoplite.

Then, there is Laila Chaaya; a quiet, dark clothed girl who is able to jump in and out of shadows as a method of teleportation, while using a knife to take down her opponents.

After her is Kiara Morrigan; a beautiful, cheery and playful girl who just so happens to be an Ancient Vampire, the most powerful type of vampires in existence.

Evony Alma is a charismatic and strong willed girl who is an archer that utilizes various trick arrows comprised of sophisticated technology that unleash powerful attacks.

Finally, there is Jasmine Dalena and Elthia Soparta. Jasmine Dalena is a serious but emotion driven girl who is a master sharpshooter and a gunslinger who has clockwork based weaponry and armor. Elthia is a shy but kind hearted girl who acts as if she is Jasmine's younger sister due to how she was brought up; she is one of the few healing mages in their year at Ferris.

This is just a brief introduction of each of the main characters and I have not included the main villains, the secondary characters or the rouges gallery of side villains who are also featured in the book. The list above is nothing more than the smallest of glances into this world, its
people, who they are and what they have been through in their life.

Why Should You Support the Book?

The Guardians has the potential to become the next biggest novel franchise among young people and, with your support, we can make that potential realised. I assure you that this is not a Twilight sort of series; this is great entertainment from start to finish. I'm sure by the end of this epic story you will have experienced many different emotions, ranging from happy to sad, anger to despair, hate to love. I sincerely hope that this project works and that every single one of you will enjoy reading my book as much as I did writing it.

Many thanks for taking the time to read my proposal,

Daniel C. Priest

The alarms broke through the silent night air, deafening the PLA soldiers. In a panicked state, they tried to organize a defense. Some were able to grab their uniforms, most were only able to pick up a weapon as they passed through the barracks.

Gunfire sounded from outside the concrete walls and the soldiers began to marshal at the main entrance. Rifles were loaded and grasped firmly, all pointing towards the bullet proof glass doors
ahead of them. They couldn't see the chaos outside, but they could hear the sounds.

Explosives boomed. Tanks fired. Guns were silenced. Screams echoed. Cackling whistled on the wind. Strange, hypnotic noises burst through the night sky. Whatever was happening
outside, none of the soldiers wanted to face it.

The commanding officer, a captain, stood behind six dozen of his men. The captain didn't have to even look at his men to tell that they were terrified.

There was no way that they would escape the Cube alive.

Silence.

The soldiers held their breaths as they placed their fingers over the triggers. The captain slowly drew his pistol. He directed it towards the double doors and exhaled.

They had no chance of surviving and they all knew it.

The doors flew wide off of their hinges, flying into the far walls and crumbling onto the floor. A large rusty metal man appeared where the doors had once been. The captain didn't even need to order his men to fire. Bullets soared through the air, ricocheting wildly against the metal armor, crumpling onto the ground. The bullets stopped. The men all stared in disbelief at the metal monster before them. Their bullets hadn't even grazed his armor.

“Pathetic,” The metal man spat. His arm then transformed into a Gatling gun.

The barrels began to spin and the soldiers broke into a sprint, fleeing in all directions. The captain didn't run away. Instead, he closed his eyes and his thoughts drifted to his family. His beautiful wife, three months pregnant, and his little baby boy, nearly six years old now. He had joined the army to make his father proud and to provide for his family. He sighed with relief; he had done just that in his life. Though, he wished he could have done it for longer. He simply smiled and dropped his pistol. After all, what point was there in running away?

A barrage of bullets tore through the PLA soldiers. A handful died from the first shots; most were torn to shreds. Blood, bullets, limbs and bodies flew through the air.

All fell silent.

Six dozen corpses lay scattered across the floor, very few still whole. The metal man's arm shifted to its original form as three figures strolled in behind him.

The first had no flesh or blood, with ebony wings protruding from his body. The second was draped in a flowing cloak that revealed only two blood red eyes. These two beastly creatures flanked a figure encased in white armor; a knight dipped in frost. The armor was pure yet contained a being of complete evil, darker than the two henchmen that followed him.

The winged man snarled. “Tank, you weren't meant to kill them all by yourself.”

Tank grunted. “Don't worry, Shinigami, there are plenty more of them left inside.”

“A pity then that you won't get to kill them,” Their leader, the white knight, spoke stonily
as he w lked deeper into the facility. “Shinigami, Tank, wait outside and keep any reinforcements off of us.”

Shinigami slumped his shoulders and Tank nodded his head in agreement. The two of them turned and trudged out, waiting in the remains of the courtyard for any more PLA forces to arrive.

“Chains,” The white knight said to the cloaked being, “Let's go.”

The two of them walked deeper into the facility. Taking the lead, the knight tore through the remaining troops with his blades, slaughtering everyone in his path: office workers, PLA soldiers, scientists. It didn't matter who they were. To him, they were better dead.

After fighting through several heavily fortified rooms, they reached their target. Sixty men armed with powerful rifles were waiting for them.

“Chains,” The knight ordered.

Chains lifted his palms; the room fell still. The soldiers anticipated his next move with horror and awe.

A dozen steel chains burst from his cloak with an immense force. There was a whirl of metal and flesh; steel links tore into the bodies of his victims. There was a cracking of bones and skulls and a shower of blood as Chains painted the room red with his enemies. In a matter of moments, the entire room was decimated. Limbs, bodies and blood lay splattered all across the room. Only a handful of pitiful, final groans could be heard from the dying PLA soldiers.

The white knight stepped over each and every body part in the room. He considered himself to be above them and he did not want to stain his armour red with their blood. Staring down with disdain, the knight paced over the remains of the soldiers, careful not to stain his uniform with their inferior blood. The knight paused for a brief moment gazing upon a woman crawling away desperately. Her back was ripped open, blood gushing out of the wound.

The knight didn't kill her.

He left her to die.

Slowly.

Painfully.

The white knight walked up to the vault door in the room. He examined it closely. There was no doubt that it was well made and incredibly strong. There were a couple of dozen locks on the door. Two security cameras were placed in each corner, peering straight down at the knight. Yet they were powerless to do anything except watch.

“Chains,” The knight commanded.

The white figure stepped to the side, allowing the hooded man to pass him. He raised his arm and five chains flew into the vault door. As they anchored themselves deep in the steel they began to glow a deep red. He ripped his hand back and the door was torn from its hinges. It crashed through the wall behind him and crumpled onto the ground.

The white knight entered the vault and gazed upon the item he had longed for: the black gem stone. It was about the size of his palm yet nothing at all impressive to look at. He picked it up in his right hand and brought it close to his face. He carefully examined it and snickered humorlessly. He threw the gem stone into the wall, splintering it to pieces.

“An impressive forgery, to say the least,” The knight hissed. “It may look the part, but there was no magical energy within it.” He twirled and returned the way he came. “We're done here. Let's go.”

Chains turned to follow his leader.

“Hmm, how irritating,” The knight huffed.
