About the author

An award winning Video Editor & Media Producer, I've always had a passion for art & film and the positive affects they can have on society. This has informed a lot of my life direction. After finishing a Masters at Kingston University, I got to do some exciting jobs such as log & capture footage for a Channel 4 documentary & shoot for a Debenhams fashion event. I then wanted to produce and shoot my own films. I also made props, continuing an interest in production design and hands on creative processes.

In 2012, I edited a short called ‘Crazy For You’ for the Raindance 48 hour film festival Film & ‘Dicing’ was officially selected by the London Independent Film Festival. Around this time I was hired and continued filming for Fulham FC as a videographer for 5 years. In 2014, I wrote, produced & directed ‘The Watcher’, which won an award of recognition & was selected by three other film festivals. In the same year I produced ‘Fair Play’ which featured in the top 10 of the BFI Short Film Festival. Then I worked for Cherry Duck on a BHS nationwide advert, utilising stop motion techniques. In 2017 got to shoot the Fifa 17 promo while working at West Ham United featuring premier league footballers & various celebrities.

I also shot for youtube channel Cheeky Sport, creating an exclusive pre European Cup promo. A career highlight was working for ITN; capturing red carpet events, notably Annette Benning’s views which were shown on ITV’s main news at 10. The last film I worked on, ‘Nerdians: Back to the past’, was released 2018 & won an award for best supporting actor for Connor Jenkin’s outstanding performance as 'Barty'. I currently work in television as a Video Editor while running self funded creative projects.

Synopsis

When Timmy goes to sleep at night, his underpants like to go on big adventures! They head to the park and run around the grassy fields; they go to the school and cause all kinds of mischief. The Pants play on merry go rounds, stroke lovely cats and even party with Skeletons! But will the Pants get home before Timmy wakes up the next morning?

BEHIND THE PANTS IN BRIEF
I remember during my childhood, I loved to read stories at bed time. These were always magical stories, based in reality; with a real emotional and empathetic core while being fun and captivating for children. I also recall my mother teaching me maths, her amazing patience through battling my dyslexia and the challenges that brought. She taught me empathy and understanding for others, through my own difficulties and her own work at mencap with special needs children.

I came to understand, with increasing passion, how much people need this throughout their childhood. These thoughts and feelings translated into always wanting to write a children’s' book but I never seemed to have a solid or worthwhile idea. I was finally inspired to write 'Pants' by my wife (a very talented writer herself). When we read the first draft, she loved it and after discussing we felt it had a chance to be something more.

SO WHY SHOULD YOU GET INVOLVED?
After rewriting the first draft and creating the images, I sent the book to many publishers, some who have shown a keen interest. I've already had wonderful experiences from sharing this book with my younger sister, capturing her attention with something I'd created. How the book also helped out a friend, whose potty training children began to see pants in a whole new light after reading it! The book seems to normalise underwear and could help their transition from nappies to children’s' underwear.

I’m very interested in animating the book for its digital publication, continuing into a series of books and in discussing with publishers the general accessibility of books for children. To commit to the publication contract that is best for the book and in order to contribute time and resources into the animation process and possible future books, I need to have financial backing.

I think Pants is worth pre-ordering because it’s a positive and fun story which can educate, entertain and enlighten children and help them connect with their parent or guardian.
