Synopsis

Adam viewed himself as a mechanical engineer, but most of the other kids saw him as a walking weird disaster. One day, in the park, he saves his bully. Finally, he was held in high regards and hailed as a hero.

Outline

Adam Baum is being ostracized by a bully and his friends who taunts him by calling him Atomb Bomb. Xavier, the bully finds himself in a precarious position. Adam finally reveals what is in the backpack that he carries (a sketchpad and tools), as he drafts and creates a lifesaving piece of machinery by dismantling playground equipment. After saving his bully, Adam is hailed as a hero. Of course, he thinks it is no big deal.

Audience

Since I also create workbooks to accompany my books, my audience would be elementary school teachers, home school teachers and parents of kids ages 5 to 9.  Since this particular book is written about a kid with autism, parents and teachers who work with autistic kids, would be especially  interested in this book.

Promotion

I formed a company with the same name as my book series, Grow With STEM.  As founder of Grow With STEM, I speak to students throughout HISD.  Other speakers also represent my book as they deliver inspirational speeches to kids.  I am actively participating in book festivals and am connected with many of them on Facebook.  I regularly post on my blog from my website: growwithstem.com.  My blog posts casts out to my facebook (personal and business), instagram and my twitter feeds.  My book previous books has been featured on other's blogs and sites.  I submit press releases to stay relevant.  I was featured in Houston Style for my book Marisol:  A Little Girl with a Big Dream.

In addition, I am an ambassador for Hometown Reads, a movement to encourage bookstores and libraries to create a Hometown Reads section in their facilities.  This promotes community support and networking among local authors.

Give More HUGS is an amazing nonprofit that I work with.  They provide support for schools in poverty areas or that have been affected by natural disasters.  We write inspirational messages in books and give them to students, have read alouds and have meet the author/book signing events.

Competition

Iggy Peck Architect (Feb 1, 2016) by Andrea Beaty is a story about a little boy who loves to build things.  He always amazes others with his creations.

Rosie Revere Engineer by Andrea Beaty is a story about a little girl who wants to be an engineer.  She creates an invention that she, at first, believes to be a failure.  Through the book she learns a lesson in perseverance.

Ada Twist, Scientist (9/6/2016)by Andrea Beaty is a story about a little curious girl. She goes on a fact finding mission through investigations and science experiments.

All books by Beaty uplift kids and peak their interest in STEM-related fields.  However, Adam Baum focuses on an autistic kid and how characteristics in some autistic people prove to be beneficial as a mechanic engineer. The story is realistic and deals with many social issues. It makes kids feel and sparks conversations.

Taylor's STEM Hawaii Adventure by Mary Payton (April 2, 2018) -Published by Melanin Origin.  Taylor is a kid of parents in the military.  Because of this, they move a lot. Taylor takes the reader on different STEM adventures with each move. Adam Baum is different because it focuses on teamwork and other social issues.  It speaks to a different audience--the autistic community. However, this book is great for teachers to help students understand their autistic friends within the classroom and to discuss diversity. Adam Baum, includes characters from different ethnic backgrounds.

SuperGeo and his Math Adventures by Tierra Martin (Nov 17, 2017) published by Opportune Independent Publishing Company.  SuperGeo is about a super kid that flies around, solving math problems.  Adam Baum also solves a very big problem. Adam is realistic fiction.  This allows kids, especially autistic kids, to see themselves in Adam. Dreams seem more achievable when it is modeled by a real character.

The Darius Webb Adventure: A Cam Newton Story by Rob Owen published by Ashe Books (May 2018) .  This story is about an awkward kid who is new to town and is befriended by Cam Newton.   Darius believes that he is on the winning side of the friendship because such a cool kid chose to be his friend and actually helped him to become socially acceptable by other kids.  He doesn't realize what he friendship means to Cam.  Darius Webb is a great story about bonds and friendships. I see many similarities in this book and Adam Baum.  Adam Baum embraces empathy and friendships.  There is also an element of empowerment, camaraderie and ingenuity.

Dear Author,

You worked hard to write your manuscript; finally, it's ready to release. You know that expert assistance is needed, but perhaps you didn’t know that it’s no longer necessary to work with a publisher—especially publishers who charge fees to produce your book upfront and deduct more costs on the back end whenever a book is sold.

1106 Design is an author services company. We provide all the editorial and design services you’d expect from a publisher to turn your manuscript into a market-ready book—editing, cover design, interior layout, proofreading, eBook formatting, and more—at the traditional publisher level. Unlike a publisher, we’ll help you obtain print-on-demand printing and worldwide distribution in your name so that you earn, in most cases, several dollars more for every book sold instead of a measly “royalty.”

We’ll customize a package of services to suit your exact needs at affordable prices ranging from $4,000 to $10,000, depending on your manuscript's word count and complexity. And we’ll manage all the intricacies of book production, so you don’t have to. After this one-time investment, every penny of net revenue from book sales goes directly to you, never to us.

If this sounds like a better way to publish your book, I invite you to browse our services, design samples, no-surprises pricing, outstanding customer reviews, and educational articles at https://1106design.com.

1106 Design has been in business since 2001 and is rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau. We are a “Highly Recommended Expert” at IngramSpark.com and rated "Excellent" at Alli, The Alliance for Independent Authors, at SelfPublishingAdvice.org.

How can we serve you today?

Sincerely,
Michele DeFilippo, owner

Gladiator Publishing Company logo Gladiator Publishing Company

Gladiator Publishing Co. has held a reputation in the Literary Industry for nearly 100 Years as a Writer-Loyal company. Nearly 100-years later, Gladiator Publishing Company still maintains that strong characteristic. We place our Authors publications first and foremost. You may hear many other "Publishing entities" state that they are "the first" to do this or the "originator/pioneer" of that. If everyone is using the same marketing, promotional, and advertising pipelines what makes them so original?

As the proud recipients of six-awards in 2018 for our innovative marketing techniques, media outreach, extremely low budget compared to the Global Industry Standard (72-83% cheaper), and an Author-inclusive style, it is no wonder we are the #1 Requested Publishing Service on the East Coast. We are staffed with industry-specific professionals that are dedicated to market and brand development.

Full Editing Services (substantive, copy, formatting, proofreading, story flow, line) are INCLUDED in the price. No hidden fees, no extra cost for something that Publishing Services should be more than happy to provide to benefit the manuscripts success. The industry has turned toward greed and away from literature. It's sick and inappropriate, it's ok to agree, they know it too.

"Oh no Adam!  What have you done?" Sebastian yelled angrily. "That was my favorite toy.  You destroyed it!  Your mom should have named you Atom Bomb, instead of Adam, because everything you touch ends up exploding into a million pieces!"

"Hey look, Sebastian, it's Atom Bomb! And he actually has friends,” said Xavier as Adam and his friends entered the park. “You better watch out before there is an atomic explosion!”

"That's right,” said Cam. “Everyone has different talents and quirks that make them special. So what if you have a curious mind and you like to figure things out? That doesn't make you weird. It makes you smart."

"Did you know that Albert Einstein, Mozart and Isaac Newton were believed to be autistic? Hey, maybe you could be the next Einstein!" exclaimed Marisol.
