Synopsis

Perfectionism is a personality trait, but also a precursor to a number of disorders that include, but aren't limited to depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, workaholism, and more. As humans, we are conditioned and pre-dispositioned based on our upbringing, cultural values, education, socio-economic status, race, and gender to name a few variables. There is a fear of facing ourselves and having to be confronted with those less societally-conventional traits. Your inability to accept, examine, and integrate traits and behaviors that you suppress or deny will be reflected through the lessons that show up for you throughout life. It is a courageous act to show up in the world stripped of all of those limitations. Some may even argue it is absurd to think we can ever show up fully as ourselves in a society that monetizes our suffering and misalignment to our higher self. Authenticity is not only a privilege but a superpower. It is something that isn't often afforded to anyone, let alone women whether in society-at-large or at work.

This book examines several anecdotes, recollections, and reflections that are based on my life's journey to date. "The Absurdity of Doing You" is a personal testament to how being yourself leads to some of your darkest days but unlocks blessings and abundance well beyond what you can imagine. This book is a call-to-action that invites you to acknowledge yourself as a sovereign human being existing in a largely illusory world. It coaxes you to come into acceptance of what you truly desire and want out of life while examining how you start to take the steps towards being the fullest embodiment of yourself so that other people may learn from your example.

I am the one to write this book because my life has been a prayer-in-motion and a movie all at once. The way I have come into prominence, the synchronicity of the unfolding of every experience in my life is not only a sacred testament of the importance of becoming your authentic self, but it is also an example of how you can slay generational trauma, weather a spiritual awakening while raising three children, go through a divorce, experience heartbreak twice all while growing a successful business. I could have cowered in terror at the unfolding of my story years ago, but I didn’t. I endured and walked through the fire and brimstone of my existence to one of the most abundant and luminous stages of my life in a seemingly effortless way. At my core, I am an eccentric, otherworldly, haphazard human who has used those aspects of me to be what strengthens me. I am not much different from any teen or adult struggling to accept themselves. The main difference with me is I have trusted myself more than the average and have come into acceptance for who I am and who I am not. I want to empower people to live audaciously through this book. Life is beautiful once you understand the game you are playing.

My target reader are women, womxn, humans who identify as women, and young girls. My target readers' age range is from 18-64. 70 percent of all YA titles are purchased by adults between the ages of 18 and 64. Parents can use my stories to unpack some of the ways they were conditioned to parent and show up in the world in an effort to cultivate a stronger bond with their children. I unpack a lot about generational trauma in my book. In recent years, generational trauma has become a hot topic in the Psychology space as well as among the general public. The premise is trauma is passed from generation to generation often times without intention. My book is a playbook for how we all overcome that.
